Residential project of social interest in Barcelona, Spain
"BSH" Architecture Competition for Students by ARCHmedium
This project was the result of an architectural competition for students. The proposal was to transform an early 20th century office building into an experimental social rental accommodation. The project adopted the concept of community based on three levels: public, shared and private spaces, respecting also the preexisting structure and the facade of the building. For the private level, keeping in mind the heterogeneity of the population, different typologies of apartments were developed, which vary according to three kinds of pavement-type, allowing each one to have different sizes and configurations. A ground floor and shared roof, both for residents and visitors, create new opportunities for community social life.
