Development of an urban and architectural proposal for the creation of a new neighborhood
Discipline of "Projet de Design VI" of the Design de l'environnement course at UQÀM, Canada
The aim of the studio was to create a new neighborhood on a plot located in Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montréal, where a new train station will be built. The project, developed in urban scale up to the level of architectural detailing, should take into account the needs of the current residents, in addition to the physical conditions of the terrain. Focused on the concept of displacements and re-encounters, the project includes "woonerfs", that is, mixed circulations favoring the pedestrian, which lead to the residences. The variety of housing allows accommodating diverse types of residents, such as families, couples or elderly people. The neighborhood has courtyards and public and private gardens scattered throughout the dwellings, favoring community life. Finally, a linear promenade connects the main avenue to the forest, offering tranquility and entertainment to the locals.
